Once upon a time…
I was in the greatest band that never was, down in Hwood. It imploded, and I became a studio hermit, working at UMG paying songwriters other than myself by day, and recording by night for many, many moons.
Had a second ferocious band of brothers, and we rocked dem clubs.
Years ticked by. Slowly improved the studio bit by bit… like Legos… like a giant, cable-knit sweater that someone keeps on knitting… ;)
These days, far from Tinseltown, I’m hanging in my hometown of Puyallup, WA south of Seattle, as a 24/7/365 caregiver for a beloved and sainted family member. The radio in my head keeps giving me new songs, thank you God. Though it’s always been the dominating compass, it is now literally my lifeline in these years of my isolation…
I record alone, writing/playing/singing everything, engineering, mastering, etc. It’s fun. It’s what I’ve been doing since I was a kid: chasing The Beatles and Brian Wilson, The Stones and Bowie, ELO and Petty, The Police and The Cure.
Chasing songs…
And by the way:
YOU are awesome for checkin’ out these tracks. Sincerely, you are. Please believe me when I tell you it means the world…
Thank you from the bottom of my lonesome, hopeful heart. This kiss is for you:
;x (muah!)
Love,
Jay
P.S. Never give up on yourself. You can be anything you want in this world.
P.P.S. I’m blown away by all the amazing indie bands rockin’ their towns in countries the world over. I see you… on TikTok, Spotify and Apple Music. I hear what you’re doing and you make me feel like I’m 15 again, which was a minute and a lifetime ago. Thank you. That feeling, and what you’re all doing, is priceless.
